Behind the Lens

One of the things I liked about this scene was how easy it would have been to walk right past it. The branches and reflections partially hide the alligator, and at first glance it’s almost impossible to spot.

I waited until the composition came together so the branches naturally framed the scene without completely obscuring the subject. The result is a photograph that rewards a second look, revealing details that aren’t immediately obvious.
