Behind the Lens
This photograph was taken near the Daytona Beach Pier on a surprisingly quiet morning. If you’ve spent any time there, you know that’s a rare sight. Having the beach almost entirely empty made the scene stand out before I even noticed the birds.
What completed the photograph for me was the lone bird flying above the group. Every time I look at the image, it feels like it’s heading off on its own while the others stay behind. That’s probably why I named it New Horizons.
